Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone

Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone, also known as Optics Valley of China (OVC), is one of China's first national high-tech development zones, China's second national independent innovation demonstration zone after Beijing's Zhongguancun, China (Hubei) Pilot Free Trade Zone (Wuhan Area), as well as China's largest optical communication technology R&D and manufacturing base. Its fibre and cable output account for 66 percent of the domestic market and 25 percent of the international market. Its laser product output accounts for more than 50 percent of the domestic market. In the last 30 years, OVC has thriven by optoelectronics, and created a "5+2" industrial pattern featuring the synchronous development of two emerging industries (integrated circuit and semiconductor display, digital economy) and supported by optoelectronic information, biomedicine, environmental protection and energy conservation, high-end equipment manufacturing and high-tech services.

There are currently more than 70,000 enterprises in OVC, including more than 800 foreign-funded enterprises. 87 enterprises among Fortune Global 500 have invested in OVC.
